Taking into consideration the pressure of urban parents from schools of CBSE, ICSE boards have now started the movement to start schools of these central boards in Mumbai Municipal Corporation. At a Friday meeting of the Education Committee, the Shiv Sena member urged the schools. The administration has taken the initiative to discuss the issue and make a proposal.

The municipality had decided to teach English as the first language in their schools. This made the municipal education department a target of criticism. Now the move to start CBSE and ICSE schools has begun. Shiv Sena education committee member Sainath Durge demanded that the municipality should start a CBSE and an ICSE school so that the students of the Mumbai Municipal School should get good quality education and the option of other board schools should be opened. So, the state government has started schools of ‘Maharashtra International Education Board’ in the state to provide CBSE, ICSE quality education to the students. Accordingly, the municipality should start schools of CBSE and ICSE schools instead of ICSE schools, ‘said BJP Education Committee member Aarti Pagavkar. ‘When starting a CBSE and ICSE school in Mumbai, the corporation’s non-objectionable certificate is required. It also made it possible for the municipality to start schools of the international board of state government instead of these schools, ‘he said. This will now be discussed at the Commissioner level and a proposal will be drafted after deliberations, ”said Mahesh Palkar, education officer of the municipality.
